Constant hiss, room noise or a noisy background does not always mean you need to download the video and edit its audio.
What noise reduction can help with
Hiss, room noise and a steady background can make quiet words hard to follow. Turning up the volume raises both the voice and the noise. Noise reduction tries to lower the background while preserving speech, but the result depends on the recording.

Set up noise reduction in noise
- Open a video and find a short passage containing both speech and background noise.
- Open the installed noise extension and select “Enable cleaning”.
- Initially set “Even out speech” to zero, disable “Remove 50 Hz hum” and leave the equalizer neutral, so you can judge noise reduction separately.
- Gradually increase “Noise reduction”. Stop when the background is less distracting and words still sound natural.
- Replay the same passage and compare “Original” with “Processed”.
Recognize excessive processing
Listen to word endings, consonants and quiet phrases. If the voice becomes choppy, metallic or loses detail, reduce the strength. Silence between sentences does not by itself mean clearer speech.

When another control is more useful
For a steady low buzz, try the 50 Hz hum filter. For uneven voice volume, try speech leveling. Music, another speaker, strong echo and distortion need separate consideration: noise reduction does not guarantee isolation of one voice or recovery of missing words.
